Role Purpose
The employee is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing company's employee safety at work. Their main duty is to ensure that the company complies and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries

Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics, review existing policies and procedures and Enforce preventative measures | •Works closely with staff in engineering, human resources, legal, operations, and research and development. •Provides technical safety and health support and information to Manufacturing and corporate personnel. •Facilitates in Preparing written safety, health and environmental programs and policies. •Identifies company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs. •Facilitates in preparation of annual company safety and health goals. •Participates in new product/process reviews, including process hazard analyses, operator training, etc. |

Always ensure a safe workplace | •Supports corporate/plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards. •Supports plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment |

Planning, implementing and overseeing company's employee safety at work | •Maintains corporate safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals). •Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, and specific training programs. •Serves as member of the executive environmental health and safety committee. •Participates in company occupational safety and health committee. •Assists as necessary in implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports. |

Identify process bottlenecks and offer timely solutions | •Reviews process-operating procedures/records and provides input for safety and health considerations. •Understands state occupational safety, health and environmental regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur. •Provides technical support to corporate and plant personnel to ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations. •Advises manufacturing plants and corporate staff of regulatory changes with which the plants must comply. Sufficient advance notice should be provided so that compliance on the effective date of new regulations is ensured. •Audits practices and records of manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with company programs and State occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations. |

Monitors lost-time injuries/illnesses and worker’s compensation claims •Reviews plant safety committee meeting minutes and safety inspection reports and follows up as necessary •Reviews injury/illness and noninjury incident investigation reports and follows up, as necessary. |

Experience | At-least 8-10 years of experience the Safety Officer category in chemical process industry. Preference will be given to candidates who are validated as ‘Safety Officer' by the Factories Inspectorate. |
Functional skills | The person should have sound understanding of unit operations, equipment and the processes used for chemicals process industry Must have strong leadership qualities and communication skills must possess a strong drive for results. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Problem Solving/Analysis. Provide solutions to safety and health issues in a wide variety of areas. Demonstrate successful leadership and guidance of health, safety management and interaction with all levels of management. Comprehensive understanding of Quality Management System, environmental, health and safety management practices, principles and procedures. |
